Who is Lilly & Lolly?

Lilly & Lolly have been producing high quality handcrafted children's furniture for nearly 10 years. The woman behind Lilly & Lolly, Megan Butler is a mother of three who lives in Sydney with her husband and loves to spend as much time with the family as she does in the business. Megan is completely dedicated to bringing quality and style to her furniture brand to give customers the best experience both in-store and at home for the children, especially when they are sleeping. Megan also searches the world for unique and beautiful products and accessories to compliment her furniture, with the objective of bringing kids rooms to life.

How did it all start?

Lilly & Lolly had its genesis as a linen company selling cushions at Paddington Markets in Sydney in 1998. Ashling Punnett, the founder, an interior designer, stylist and all-round creative, took her innovative and bright prints to the markets sitting alongside other well known fledgling Australian brands such as Zimmerman and Collette Dinnigan. Testing the designs at Paddington Market proved very successful. Demand for the product grew as Ashling found a gap in the market for not only cushions, but bedding for children in general. Lilly & Lolly Linen then launched providing whole ranges for kid's bedrooms including bed linen, throws, PJ's and soft furnishings.

L&L was established in the market place very quickly, with a small outlet in the southern suburbs of Sydney, a website and an active wholesale department to take the brand to the rest of Australia. It was approximately 6 years into Lilly & Lolly's existence, that a gap in the market for well designed children's furniture to showcase designer linen became apparent. The team launched the inaugural collection of L&L high quality Australian made furniture with 3 ranges. The aesthetic vision was clean, modern and simple to appeal to the new wave of parents looking for designer furniture for their children.

In 2009, Megan Butler, a mum of three, with an award winning background in sales, marketing and the creative arts, saw an opportunity to join forces with L&L and expand the business opportunities for the company.

The new partnership proved incredibly successful as the business grew rapidly. With Megan on board managing the wholesale and retail efforts, business increased significantly. Expansion began for the now booming brand with retail stores opening in Waterloo, Sydney and Albert Park, Melbourne. With a new range of furniture and catalogues being shot and shipped to loyal customers, the L&L brand had become a trusted Australian children's brand.

At the end of 2015, Ashling decided to exit the business and Megan continued on her own. Megan knew wholeheartedly that the L&L brand was destined to be a successful Australian made and designed brand, so she put her head down to move forward into the new era. With the foresight that the Rosebery area would become a destination for retailers,L&L was the first business to be established on the corner of Mentmore & Morley and on 1st April 2015 a beautiful new store was birthed.
